The story of Lady Jane Grey

An illustration telling the story of Lady Jane Grey, a woman (young girl) of history whose life was determined and ultimately ended by a collection of letters.

Firstly, the letter of the late King Edward VI (her cousin) who fell ill and drafted a letter, leaving her as his heir and Queen after his death in an attempt to stop the country returning to a ruling under Catholicism.

Secondly, the letters she signed as acting Queen of England, 'Jane the Quene' which, as not lawfully Queen of England was an act of treason.

And lastly, the letter declaring her execution under the orders of Queen Mary I.

Letters of War
